Keep you computer clean and well ventilated.

At least every 6 months try to clean your computer inside and out. The computer's worst enemy is dust. Many of the computers sold today have fans that cool different components. Over time, these fans can get loaded with dust. This is especially the case when you keep your pc on a carpeted floor.

Follow these steps to clean your pc:
1. Use a vacuum cleaner with a hose to vacuum away all the excess dust on the outside of the pc (you might have to wipe some with your hand or use a soft brush).
2. Most computers can be opened fairly easily. Some have buttons that provide you access and some have 2 or 3 screws that allow you to open the case. Once inside, use the vacuum, but be very careful not to loosen any wires.
The best way to loosen the dust from the internal components of your pc is to buy a can of compressed air. You can purchase these at most retail stores that sell computers. Use the compressed air to blow away any dust that has accumulated on the CPU fan and on the Power Supply fan. These are critical components in your pc.

One other tip is to keep your computer in a well ventilated area. There should not be anything blocking the front or back of your pc. This will keep the air flow that your pc needs to cool down the CPU and Power Supply. If you follow these suggestions you will keep your pc in optimal conditions.
